Local international basketball referees, Bernard Vassallo and Gordon Barbara, were once again in action in Europe, following the appointments in July where they
officiated both in the European Division C Championships in Malta and then the European Under 16 Championships in Andorra where they also refereed the men’s boys’ bronze medal game and likewise the girls bronze medal game respectively.
Vassallo officiated the international Division A qualifier between Italy and Lithuania played in Cagliari on Wednesday 11th August won by Italy 87 - 72. This qualification group for EuroBasket 2011 comprises also of Croatia, Belgium and Holland. Barbara officiated the International Division B qualifier between Albania and Luxembourg won by the latter 44 - 88.
Both Vassallo and Barbara has further international appointments later this month.
