fibaFIBA was founded on 18th June 1932 in Geneva, Switzerland. We therefore start our 75th Anniversary celebrations today and would like to invite you all to celebrate it with us.

 

The visionary men who met on that summer day of 1932 in Geneva would have probably never imagined, not even in their wildest dreams, how popular the game of basketball has become 75 years later. Basketball is amongst the most popular sports in the world and truly conforms one of the pillars of the Olympic movement.

  • 2014-15 Best Defender Trophy winner: Bryant Dunston, Olympiacos Piraeus
    For the second season in a row, Bryant Dunston of Olympiacos Piraeus has been chosen by Turkish Airlines Euroleague head coaches to win the Best Defender Trophy, making him the second player, after six-time winner Dimitris Diamantidis, to be honored with the award more than once.
  • 2014-15 Alphonso Ford Top Scorer Trophy: Taylor Rochestie, Nizhny Novgorod
    The first of the 2014-15 EFES Euroleague Awards, the Alphonso Ford Top Scorer Trophy, has been won by Nizhny Novgorod playmaker Taylor Rochestie, whose scoring exploits this season helped bring a rookie team all the way to the Top 16.
  • Appeals panel agrees to ALBA sanction reduction
    The Euroleague Basketball Independent Appeals Panel on Tuesday partially upheld a petition from ALBA Berlin to mitigate sanctions by the Independent Disciplinary Judge concerning incidents surrounding the club's home game with Galatasaray Liv Hospital Istanbul on March 19 during Round 11 of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Top 16.
  • Panathinaikos parts ways with head coach Ivanovic
    Panathinaikos Athens split ways with head coach Dusko Ivanovic on Sunday, and now the former head of bench will be replaced on interim basis by his assistant Sotiris Manolopoulos. The coaching change came the day after the Greens lost at home 66-77 their Greek League derby against arch-rival Olympiacos Piraeus.
