fibaFIBA was founded on 18th June 1932 in Geneva, Switzerland. We therefore start our 75th Anniversary celebrations today and would like to invite you all to celebrate it with us.

 

The visionary men who met on that summer day of 1932 in Geneva would have probably never imagined, not even in their wildest dreams, how popular the game of basketball has become 75 years later. Basketball is amongst the most popular sports in the world and truly conforms one of the pillars of the Olympic movement.

  • Domestic roundup: May 27
    Turkish Airlines Euroleague runner-up Olympiacos Piraeus cruised to a big win in its Greek League semifinals opener on Wednesday. The Reds blasted Aris Thessaloniki 98-53 as all 12 Olympiacos players scored.
  • Fenerbahce re-signs coach Obradovic through 2017
    Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul reached a new agreement with eight-time Turkish Airlines Euroleague champion coach Zeljko Obradovic to extend his contract until the end of the 2016-17 season. Obradovic is in his second season with Fenerbahce, which he led to its first Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four appearance this season. He also guided Fenerbahce to the Turkish League title last season.
  • Domestic roundup: May 26
    Panathinaikos pulled away in the fourth quarter to complete an 83-58 victory over PAOK Thessaloniki on Game 1 of the Greek League semifinals. Loukas Mavrokefalidis tallied 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Antonis Fotsis added 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Greens.
  • Domestic roundup: May 25
    Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar used a great defensive effort in the second half to crush Eurocup champion Khimki Moscow Region 78-55 and come one win away from advancing to the VTB League playoff finals. Lokomotiv now leads 2-1 in the best-of-five series.
